Ansley Golf Club's Friday afternoon group, The Swindle, celebrated Christmas early with The Santa Swindle. 28 players competed on a splendid afternoon in Atlanta, and any player wearing a Santa hat enjoyed an extra stroke off their handicap. However, any player sporting a head-to-toe Santa suit, including beard, received ten extra strokes. Only three players took the strokes and embraced their inner Santa, including Nate Cecil and Jim "Ponch" Conant, pictured above. The third Santa, Jon Kaye, made wise use of his ten extra strokes en route to victory and Santa Swindle glory. I was unable to play, but if I had, I would have certainly played in full Santa regalia. The spirit of Christmas and the glory of golf were on display today, showing that there are many ways to have fun on a golf course.

This shot was taken yesterday on my first official fashion shoot, complete with models, make-up artist, stylist, etc. That may not seem like a big thing to commercial photographers reading this, but it was something brand new for me. I've always documented golf in its natural state, whether it's the action of a professional tournament or the solitude of an early morning landscape. So directing the scenes and thinking about the needs of a client sort of reversed my normal process, although the results were just as satisfying. It was a great experience and I hope to get more opportunities like this in the future. Most of the images were closer up, but this was one of favorite wide angle shots.
Rick Martin, who originally founded Fairway & Greene, has returned with a new apparel company, Martin Golf. Look for my images in the marketing materials for their debut line in the spring of 2012.
